Bespoke recruitment for Nurses
Established 2001
Doc2docs offers a bespoke service that maintains the individuality and independence of you as a locum Nurse Practitioner and also as a professional.
Based on our extensive experience in successfully recruiting GPs we are aware of the challenges facing the Nursing profession as you seek work as an independent practitioner.

If you prefer, you are always welcome to call our office (on 01453 756993) and we will discuss your individual needs. Alternatively, please email the office with your contact details and we will call you back.
As a minimum, we will initially require the following documentation:

WORKING AS A LOCUM NURSE OR IN A PERMANENT ROLE
The flow of locum Nurse vacancies has increased steadily over the years as the shift of certain types of work has moved away from the GP. We are able to manage your diary with a steady stream of appropriate locum work and thus enable you to maximise your time in your career without any distractions.
We are not simply a Nurse locum agency. We offer a broad range of services:
- Regular sessional daytime work
- “Out of Hours” work
- Relocation packages
- Permanent placements
- Long term Maternity and sabbatical locums
- Support and mentorship
At Doc2docs, we listen and discuss your individual needs which enables us to offer you assignments that match your requirements, whether you are looking for sessional locum jobs or a more permanent appointment.
It is important that you are fully prepared for the work that you agree to undertake and we ensure that you are adequately briefed prior to any job. We are aware of the need to remain up to date with the computer software systems utilised in both daytime and “Out of Hours” work and are able to provide training links to the major providers in these areas on our Links page or alternatively contact our office for helpsheets.

PAY RATES FOR NURSES
We will be only too pleased to offer you guidance on pay rates in your particular area of expertise, but these will understandably vary as they are dependent on the type of work that you will undertake and also whether you are an Advanced Nurse Practitioner or otherwise.
You may wish to set your own individual pay rates that, for example includes travel. With our approach to negotiating on your behalf we try and ensure that both you and the client practice are happy with the proposed pay. If, for example, your agreed time for a locum job is exceeded then we ensure that you are paid for this additional time.
We ensure that you are paid weekly for work that you have done.
THE FUTURE
We have seen changes from Health Authorities, to Primary Care Groups and Trusts. Fundholding has given way to other incentivised schemes for Practice remuneration. The “Out of Hours” arena has changed dramatically from the traditional GP on call to GP Co-ops and now larger companies all vying for business. The biggest change to the way that GPs practise since the start of the NHS in 1948 is upon the medical profession with the abolition of PCTs to make way for Commissioning Groups starting in April 2013. This will mean that GPs will hold the responsibility for the Commissioning of Healthcare and has already been enacted by Parliament. More information regarding this and the timescale of changes is published in the medical and lay press almost on a daily basis. Please call the office if you would like any further information and we will be only too pleased to assist with your enquiry.
There has also been a steady shift towards the acceptance of locum Nurse Practitioners in a variety of roles and settings working together with GP colleagues in delivering Primary Healthcare. For example, Nurse Practitioners and other allied health care professionals have taken over some of the more traditional roles of GPs.
Doc2docs has been facilitating “Practice Meetings” on a regular basis. Nurses are very welcome to these meetings and your contribution can only be seen as complementary to the group. Please see the News or Education sections of the website for more information or alternatively call the office on 01453 756993.
Locum work as a Nurse Practitioner is to be embraced and may simply be your stepping stone to a more permanent post after gaining valuable experience in a variety of settings. Alternatively it may become your preferred pattern of future work.

Brigid, Sessional GP Gloucestershire, 2nd July 2020
As a GP, I would highly recommend Doc2docs for their friendly, personal assistance in finding suitable locum employment.
They have assisted with mandatory training, terms and conditions, pensions forms, appraisals, practice concerns and they will always do their best to match locums to posts available.
The Practice Meetings which were held approximately monthly before lockdown provided a confidential forum in which to share learning. This has been useful for locums who might not otherwise have access to a supportive peer group.
Thanks Doc2docs for being there for us with a cheerful and helpful attitude!
Brigid, Sessional GP Gloucestershire
Teresa Bundy, Blakeney Surgery, Gloucestershire, August 2015
I use Doc2docs regularly when I have a need to book locums. My requests are dealt with in a professional and timely manner. I am very happy with the locums we have been sent however obtaining locums is now becoming more challenging.
Pat Moran, Practice Manager, Abbeymeads Surgery, Swindon
Doc2docs have helped us out of a tight spot on many occasions. The staff are always very helpful and cheerful.
Dr Diya Kuruvilla, Sessional GP, Gloucestershire
Doc2docs have been a godsend in not only finding me appropriate and suitable work but also in being a very supportive agency who have really taken care of someone like me who is a newly qualified GP and also new to the South West. They are very friendly, caring and efficient.
Dr Sunil Srivastava, Sessional GP, Gloucestershire, 1st July 2020
I have been associated with Doc2Docs for the last 16 years. During this period, I have felt that –
”Doc2Docs provides a personal and professional service taking into account my needs when finding roles. Everyone at the firm is efficient and proactive and I would highly recommend the firm to doctors looking for the locum work.”
Dr Sunil Srivastava, Sessional GP
Anon, Practice Manager, Bristol area, December 2015
We found Doc2Docs to be very professional and friendly in our dealings with them and really cared about ensuring the candidate profile and practice culture was a good match. Thank you Doc2Docs
Dr Emma Godson, Sessional GP
Very efficient, friendly team. I have been offered more work that I could take. Huge help in the world of locuming. Support in finding work, but also invaluable in ensuring payments are made and pension forms collected. Also opportunities for practice meetings and educational and revalidation work. I would thoroughly recommend Doc2docs.
Dr Claire Hollingsworth, Sessional GP, December 2015
I can highly recommend Doc2Docs to anyone interested in hassle free locuming – they are efficient, friendly, supportive and hit a perfect balance of providing enough information about what sessions are available without feeling pressured to do everything going. Communication is timely and renumeration prompt – I simply can’t fault them.
Gerry Barclay, Practice Manager, Newnham and Westbury Surgery, Gloucester
Doc2docs have been a stalwart support for our surgery when we have required locum cover. Where many promise much and fail to deliver – Doc2docs have alwaysdelivered from our perspective whilst also maintaining regular contact to keep you informed as to your request. They now represent our first point of contact when we seek locum cover.
Dr JRMS, Dorset Sessional GP, August 2015
I have worked intermittently in quite a number of practices through Doc2docs for over 8 years now. I have always found them kind, pleasant and helpful. They treat me as an individual self employed GP which is appreciated and have always been very straightforward. Both written and verbal communication has been very clear. Payment, as agreed, has always been prompt.
I hope to continue to work with them in the future.
Dr Donald Grant, Sessional GP, Aneurin Bevan, Wales, 30th June 2020
I have worked locum sessions arranged by Doc2Docs for many years. I have been impressed by their focus on rigorous checking of credentials and excellent communication. Deservedly they enjoy a high reputation among practices as a result.
Dr Donald Grant, Sessional GP, Aneurin Bevan, Wales
Dr.Muhebbullah Wazir MBBS, MRCP(UK, Ireland), sessional GP
I have been working with this locum agency since 2008, it is led by a doctor, who is also a sessional GP and an appraiser, who is supported by a very pleasant and professional team. He knows the value of patient’s care and and also understands aspirations of a sessional GP. These uniqueness make me to strongly recommend this agency to all doctors who wish to work with peace of mind.
Website compliment
I think the website is fantastic and as a GP new to locuming it has addressed all my anxieties about managing the bookings, invoicing, pension forms etc, so thank you!

Dr Teresa Pietroni, Sessional GP, Gloucestershire
I registered with Doc2Docs after moving into Gloucester this July, and completing a GP returner scheme locally. From the first phone call they have been supportive and helpful, giving straight and sensible advice. I appreciate the ‘telephone’ appraisal feedback after occasional surgeries, the daily list of opportunities, and a monthly CPD meeting, both for the CPD and the opportunity to network with others in a similar situation to myself. If I wanted it, I could be working daily off work they send me.
Dr CS, sessional GP, Bristol
I have been working with Doc2docs for the past 4 months since I moved to the area and they have been fantastic. They are extremely professional in every aspect and have made my life as a locum much easier than I expected, leaving me to focus on my patients. Their staff are really helpful and have accommodated my needs and preferences with ease. I would certainly recommend them to any GP’s wanting to locum in this area.
Dr Julius Fadipe, Sessional GP Worcestershire, 7th July 2020
My name is Julius Fadipe, a freelance general practitioner of many years, and recently retired but still undertaking few sessions on and off through Doc2Doc locum agent.
I have worked with Doc2Doc for many years, about 12years.
Over this period, I have undertaken all types of locum sessions via the agent, long term, short term and medium terms.
I found the agent very reliable, hardworking at getting you whatever type of work suites you at a particular time and very accommodating.
The agent is loved and respected by all the surgeries I worked.
The staff are very friendly, humorous and caring.
The remuneration is highly competitive and attractive……. really, I’d dare anyone to compare them to contemporary agents.
I am pleased to continue working for this agent, and I will highly recommend it.
Dr Julius Fadipe, Sessional GP, Worcestershire
Dr Michael Peters BSc, MB, MA, FRCGP, Sessional GP 5th July 2020
‘I am an experienced GP based in Wiltshire. I have used the services of Doc2docs for a number of years to obtain OOH, locum work and permanent positions in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. They have always been most helpful and genuinely very supportive. Doc2docs is a very professional agency with a personal touch. I have never felt the need to use any other agency for the work I do”
Dr Michael Peters BSc, MB, MA, FRCGP, Sessional GP.
Dr Sarah Wood, Sessional GP, December 2014
I recently joined Doc2docs and have found them to be very helpful and welcoming. It was good to meet the doctors running this agency, recently at one of their Practice Meetings. I receive confirmation for each locum session, including rate of pay, times and location. Following the session I receive feedback from the practice which can be used in my next appraisal, and also the payment is quick. I would definitely recommend them to colleagues.
Val Huxley, Operations Manager, Lydney Practice, Gloucestershire
Our practice have used Doc2docs locum service extensively during the last year. Having used many locum providers previously, I have found Doc2docs to be a fast, reliable service, supplying locum cover that has always met our requirements. I can now say that I use Doc2docs as my first point of contact whenever we require cover. Highly recommended.
Dr UK, sessional GP, London
Doc2docs is an excellent locum agency. The staff are very professional, friendly and efficient. They are one of the few locum agencies which clearly understands the need of the doctor and are able to provide a personalised service to a very high standard. It is one of the best locum agencies I have worked for and would be delighted to recommend them to any doctor interested in doing both short and longterm locum work.
Dr Shahid, GP Locum, August 2015
I would like say that I found D2D as an exceptional provider. They kept me busy since I qualified 6 months back, I find more work then I need. Not only this but they take keen interest in our professional development by organising monthly educational meetings, hence providing us forum to discuss difficult cases, weak areas & learn from each other.
I would strongly recommend them to all those who are interested in locum work with less hassle.
Dr Sam Tilley, GP Locum, January 2017
“I have really found working with your locum practice to be really easy, straight forward and was surprised with how much work was on offer. It was a great few months. Really good communication too.”
Taw Hill Medical Practice February 2018
We have found Doc2docs to be extremely professional, very approachable and the standard of locums provided to us has been excellent.
Helen Blackburn, Practice Manager Bredon Hill Surgery, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
We are very happy with the professional service that Doc2docs has always given. We use them exclusively & can only highly recommend them.
Dr San Sumathipala, GP & Deputy Medical Director, Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, September 2015
The meetings have certainly facilitated my return to primary care. I have found the meetings to be a great way of undertaking my CPD, and just as importantly, an opportunity to meet colleagues in an atmosphere of mutual support and learning.
I certainly recommend these meetings to any colleague.
Katie Stewart, ANP, May 2017
After joining Doc2Docs I can honestly say I’ve never worked for such a personal, friendly agency. You receive an outstanding service from all the staff, the clients they deal with are incredibly friendly and welcoming and you get a real sense of an agency who is very respected within the medical community and a holistic approach given to all of their clients, like me. They are prompt and incredibly supportive, nothing ever seems too much for them.
I’d recommend this agency over any of the larger medical agencies out there.
Dr Ruth McWhinney, Sessional GP, December 2015
In my experience I have found Doc2docs to offer a very reliable and personal locum service. They genuinely have made an effort to get to know me as a doctor and consequently they can anticipate the locum jobs most suited to me.
Paul Butterworth, Practice Manager, West Bar Surgery, Banbury, Oxfordshire
Having in the past spent many hours phoning the list of locums we trust to secure cover, and often to no avail, it has been a relief and money well spent in knowing that the list of dates I send to Doc2Docs will be filled with good quality GPs who quickly fit in with our ethos and way of working.
Dr Andrew Boddam-Whetham, June 2017
Having worked in the protective cocoon of a GP surgery partnership for 30 years it was somewhat daunting to be ‘out on my own’ touting for locum work and OOH shifts and I found that coming to your monthly evening CPD meetings reassuring in its colleagueship (with lively participation) and offers of work, educational and stimulating, and Peter’s appraiser role added an extra layer of knowledge and understanding.
Very best wishes and thanks,
JS, O&S Manager, Swindon, August 2015
I have been using Doc2Docs for over 10 years to cover GP sessions and they are the first agency I contact when the need arises for a locum doctor. They will go the extra mile when covering, especially at short notice. I have always found the staff to be courteous, professional and prompt when dealing with enquiries, with excellent local contacts. The sessional GPs offered through this agency are constantly of the highest quality with good, sound professional backgrounds and come with outstanding references.
I highly recommend Doc2Docs as a GP locum agency
Dr Theresa Curtin, Sessional GP Gloucestershire
I have worked for doc2docs for the past year and I could not recommend them more highly. They are highly efficient in their dealings with both doctors and practices. The processes they employ make the logistics of working as a locum as seamless and straightforward as possible. Additionally they work hard to accommodate your availability. They’re a very friendly team as well!
Dr San Sumathipala, GP & Deputy Medical Director, Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, September 2015
I have been attending the evening meetings held by doc2docs since 2014. They were initially a great way of getting back into primary care after a hiatus where I undertook purely medico-legal work. I find the meetings an excellent way of discussing various medical matters with colleagues. We cover selected topics, for instance a recent national or local guideline. We also discuss significant events and any learning points or points of reflection from any aspect of our clinical work. Everything is done in a confidential manner, but also in a supported way facilitated by Peter. The food is excellent as well!!
