The World Health Organisation (WHO) have criticised Europe’s “unacceptably slow” vaccine rollout and said the region’s rising Covid-19 infection rate is “worrying.”
“We must speed up the process by ramping up manufacturing, reducing barriers to administering vaccines, and using every single vial we have in stock, now,” WHO director for Europe Hans Kluge said in a statement today.
Five weeks ago the weekly number of new Covid-19 cases in Europe had dropped below a million. With the insurgence of cases, dubbed ‘the third wave,’ those European countries who are falling behind their vaccination programmes need to follow the advice from organisations such as the WHO to tackle the pandemic.
