English schools reopen today: what are the new rules?

Children in England are now returning to school from today after months of home-schooling.

Students will be tested for Covid-19 three times in the first two weeks of school with lateral flow tests. These tests are designed to give results within 30 minutes.
• Testing is currently voluntary and only if a parent or guardian has given consent.

Staff and students in English schools, colleges and universities will be required to wear face coverings indoors unless social distancing can be maintained.
• This guidance will be reviewed by the government again at Easter.
• Face coverings are recommended in early years and primary schools for teachers, staff and adult visitors.

With respects to summer examinations in England, A-Levels, AS Levels and GCSE exams have been cancelled and teachers’ estimated grades will be used instead.
